Camden river trails
I've called it Camden river trails, which is what I have always known it as, but its really the Nepean.
The Nepean river winds back and forth through the Sydney basin offering many great places to ride and enjoy the scenery.
Camden has a great park with a fantastic ride along he forested river banks. The ride is only a few kilometres long and is suitable for all ages. Younger riders would probably get more out of it as there are no real hills. There are some gentle rollers through little gullies to challenge beginners.
Total length return to start and including a detour across the bridge and out to the turf farm is approximately eight kilometres.
As well as the bubbler, playground and ammenities, there are nice picnic tables by the river and plenty of information signs to tell the story of Camden and surrounds.
Access and facilities
There are plenty of spots to access the trails from. It really depends on the direction you are coming from.
Ive parked at the sports park on Argyle st. Its also a short ride up to the shops and bakeries from here so a post ride pastry is an easy promise. (Not that I`m fixated on bakeries or anything;-)
Heading south there are bathrooms, playground and a water bubbler only 1km from the car.
If you choose to start from the end of river road on the Northern side of the river it is also a 1km ride down, across the bridge and up the bank to join the main trail at the playground and bubbler.
You can even start at the playground by accessing Chellaston street.
Camden has loads of good cafes and eating options. Other rides in the area include the Mt Annan Botanic gardens, but this is quite hilly.
The map shows starting Camden river trails at Argyle st but you can start at any point really.
The map can take a moment to load, please be patient. At the Eastern end there are trails marked further along the river. There are good MTB trails here, but they are on private land and currently closed.
